Bones Ate Arfa, Honeybadger Jr and Fat Lloyd at the Hope and Ruin

While I have been to gigs in Brighton before, this was my first visit to the Hope and Ruin, which is a venue very conveniently sited just down the road from the rail station for a quick late night getaway. Having seen Bones Ate Arfa a few times in London I couldn't resist the idea of seeing them on home territory and headlining.

That did of course leave me with seeing two support acts which were entirely knew to me. First up were (I think) called Fat Lloyd. They sat in an uneasy space between heavy rock and prog rock for me. Overly long songs which featured rather too much in the way of self-indulgent guitar riffs.

Honeybadger Jr were a more standard heavy rock guitar band, and felt rather more proficient

The two supports had rather longer sets than I expected, while Bones Ate Arfa did a full hour although I might have liked a little more. But nice to see them in front of a pretty decent sized audience, in excess of a hundred I would guess. Enough at least that a mosh pit got going!
