Cape Town arrival

So before the safari (see previous entries) I had come to Cape Town. I had been kindly invited by one of my colleagues to his wedding in South Africa, so decided to make the most of the trip. First stop was Cape Town.

Flew in overnight and got taxi to my hotel, One Thibault Hotel (chosen in part because my best mate is called Thibault!) 

Was very happy with my choice. Nice little room with views across the financial district

The only catch with the hotel is that it is a complete eyesore. A brutalist monstrosity reminiscent of the Barbican Centre back home. But the beauty of such a building is that when you are inside you can't see it!!

I didn't do much first day other than potter down the street

... and then meet up with my "hosts" to watch the England v Australia rugby match in a bar, following which I made a hasty retreat to my room for a good night's sleep. I didn't get much on the overnight flight from London!
